Today I presented a workshop at the CUEBC Provincial Conference about using the online Animoto video creator. Here is the presentation. The videos may not play, but I'll add in links.

I wanted to introduce this to the Grade 3 Tech Club yesterday, but I hadn't figured out how to import your own images into the Purple Mash 2DIY game designer. Today the penny dropped and I quickly made my own collecting type game based on the Backpack Buddies food collection drive that is happening at school right now. I can't wait to show the Grade 3 students next week how to import their own images! Click on the image below to play the game: be patient, it takes a while to load.
A Grade 2 class produced some beautiful work as part of an e-collage activity. We were using the e-collage option in 2Paint a Picture with real leaf scans. Here are the amazing examples:
I was delighted with the 6Key class today who produced some lovely Animoto videos today in just one lesson. I explained that we needed some camp videos to show to the rest of the school in Assembly next week. They paid close attention and whilst not perfect (this was their first attempt!) they created some lovely works which very much reflected their personalities. These videos are very much proof of just how user-friendly the Animoto online video creator is. It's an interesting day when there is no internet access at school. At least there was no power outage, so that we could use the technology; but no internet and no network. This tied in nicely with the book I'm reading titled " ICT in the Primary School; From Pedagogy to Practice" by Gary Beauchamp. It posits the question, "Imagine arriving in school and there is no internet, and you've left your electronic lessons at home. Would you still be able to teach effectively? Is there really a place for ICT in the Primary School?" So we had to adapt our lessons, not using any internet sites and saving the student work to a memory stick rather than to the network. Here are a couple of examples of Grades 2 & 3 work: |
