I was asked to produce a short video about our school Terry Fox Run. I decided to not use a music background, instead using some narration by Terry Fox from the Terry Fox Foundation website. I used the Animoto online video creator. Here's the result:

We had a Science Assembly in order to preview Science Expo next week, so I was asked to make a slideshow of Science across the grades. Here's the result: The Tech Clubs are all voluntary and drop in, so numbers can vary. Last week there were 14 students at the Grade 4 lunchtime Tech Club, doing some great programming using Repeat, but this week only 6. This was our deadline to make online animoto videos using video and photos taken by the students this term using the floor robots. The aim is to then share them with the whole school at the Science Expo Assembly. A couple of the students worked with a partner so we ended up with four robotics videos. Here they are:
Today I presented a workshop at the CUEBC Provincial Conference about using the online Animoto video creator. Here is the presentation. The videos may not play, but I'll add in links.
I was delighted with the 6Key class today who produced some lovely Animoto videos today in just one lesson. I explained that we needed some camp videos to show to the rest of the school in Assembly next week. They paid close attention and whilst not perfect (this was their first attempt!) they created some lovely works which very much reflected their personalities. These videos are very much proof of just how user-friendly the Animoto online video creator is. Here's a video that I made to show what some of the teachers at Wentworth have been up to in terms of technology integration. Today I was presenting a workshop about Effective Presentation Tools at the CUEBC Teachers' Conference. Here's my presentation PowerPoint (without the multimedia examples!) This was produced as part of the Gr4 Tech Club, focusing on the robotics work we've done this term, as well as using the Animoto video skills the club learnt last term. I am convinced that students don't use cameras enough at school. They can certainly add some creativity to display projects, as well as documenting practical work, such as art, drama etc. Once the Gr4 students understood how Animoto worked I sent them round the school in pairs during their lunch hour to take pictures of what they saw. I was delighted with some of the more unusual photos, taken from different angles. Of course there were a lot of standard 'posed' photos as well. I then showed the videos before Assembly as all the classes entered the gym. Examples below! |
